Andrea K. Schlehwein opens Busan International Short Film Festival 2016

Artist Andrea K. Schlehwein will represent Austria at one of the world’s largest international short film festivals, the Busan International Short Film Festival 2016 (BISFF 2016) in South Korea.
The Austrian Embassy in Seoul and BISFF 2016 have invited AKS to open the festival with her dance film composition ‘INVOCATION’.
In the frame of the Austrian Cultural Event 2016, further performances will take place in the impressive building of Busan Cinema Center, planned by Austrian architectural firm Coop – Himmelb(l)au.
The production team of büro für tanz I theater I produktionen, has used the invitation as an occasion to organise additional events by Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, in the spirit of an inter-cultural dialogue between Austria and South Korea, which has been actively pursued since 2012 with several high-quality presentations.
Examples include the dance film installation INTER FACE by AKS, shown in a successful and highly regarded series of performances in the prestigious venue Platoon Kunsthalle Seoul, as well as LIGHT ON – LIGHT OFF no° 7, a selection of the best of Young Korean Choreographers, presented in Stift Millstatt by AKS to an Austrian audience in 2014.
Additional events during Andrea K. Schlehwein’s Korea EX : CHANGE 2016 in April this year include her participation at Seoul International Improvisation Dance Festival 2016, where she will give workshops and theoretical presentations and will participate in panel discussions.
In May 2016, AKS will be in Japan with further specialist contributions in Kyoto and Tokyo.
