Der Zeitgenössische Tanz legt wie jede andere, sich ernst nehmende Kunstform auch, Finger in die Wunden unserer Zeit. Gesellschaftspolitische Themen werden in heutiger Ästhetik reflektiert, kommuniziert und oftmals in dialogischen Formaten einem meist mühsam über Jahre gewachsenen Publikum präsentiert. Dass dies längst nicht allen Bürgermeistern und Gemeinderäten gefällt, liegt auf der Hand. Doch autonomes Denken und Agieren wird nicht nur im ländlichen Raum als Risiko empfunden. Auch gestandene Festivalmacher laden Programmpunkte mit Tanz wieder aus, weil nicht alles glatt geht im Ticketverkauf dieser Kunstform. Chancen werden vertan, Denkverhalten angepasst. Um Budgets zu sichern, wird auf etablierte Kost und auf Claqueure in Politik und Publikum gesetzt. Mit letzterem gut ausgestattet erzeugt der pekuniäre Mangel Druck und zerstört schnell, was Jahre gebraucht hat, um zu dem zu werden, was es heute ist.
Unangepasstheit und Nachdenklichkeit lösen erstaunlicherweise Unsicherheit bei Inhabern von Positionen mit Verantwortung aus. Doch es ist und bleibt die Stärke des Tanzes, die Sinne des Publikums zu treffen mit seiner rätselhaften Flüchtigkeit, seiner physischen Wucht, der Präsentation des menschlichen Körpers in all seiner Fragilität und Kraft.
Schwellenangst und Wahrnehmungsprobleme sind Probleme, die jeder Nischenkunst begegnen, für die es von den Macherinnen Konzepte zu entwickeln gilt, um einen lebendigen Diskurs und Dialog mit dem Publikum im Fluss zu halten. Darüberhinausgehenden, systemisch bedingten Produktions- und Rezeptionsproblemen, wie sie ein von Konkurrenzdenken gebeuteltes Bundesland wie Kärnten zeigt, müssen begegnet werden.
Aus diesem Grund veranstaltet der Think Tank um Andrea K. Schlehwein statt eines choreographischen Programmpunktes zur diesjährigen Kunst Nacht Stift Millstatt am 28. Juli 2023 einen dance. talk mit dem Titel Gespräche über das Abwesende. Die seit 15 Jahren in Kärnten Impulse setzende Plattform für Tanz und Kunst, das Label Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, wird im ART SPACE stift millstatt für Gedankenaustausch und Lösungsvorschläge zur Verfügung stehen. Tanzen werden wir nicht. Tanz kostet. Neben Geld auch Haltung.
Getanzt wird dennoch. Die nächste Neuproduktion von Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS wird als internationale Koproduktion mit dem ältesten Tanztheater Ljubljanas kreiert, mit einem die Landesgrenzen negierenden, neugegründeten Ensemble. Zu sehen ist die Tanzproduktion dis:place im Rahmen des Festivals UKREP Festival of Dance Perspectives Slovenia am 26 Juni in Maribor und am 28. Juni in Ljubljana - und möglicherweise später im Jahr auch andernorts in Kärnten, dort, wo der Tanz willkommen ist.

Contemporary dance, just like any other serious art form, puts a finger on the sore spots of our time. Socio-political topics are reflected and communicated in today's aesthetics and, often in dialogical formats, presented to an audience that has been painstakingly cultivated over many years. It goes without saying that mayors and local politicians are not always happy about this. But autonomous thinking and acting is not only perceived as a risk in rural areas. Even seasoned festival makers decide to cancel dance events, as things don’t run smoothly with ticket sales for this art form. Opportunities are lost, ways of thinking are adjusted. In order to secure budgets, the choice goes to established programs and claqueurs in politics and public. Well equipped with the latter, the pecuniary shortage creates pressure and quickly destroys what took years to develop into what it is today.
Surprisingly, nonconformity and thoughtfulness trigger insecurity among people in positions of responsibility. But it is and remains the strength of dance to address the senses of the audience with its enigmatic ephemerality, its physical force, and presentations of the human body in all its fagility and power.
Fear of the unknown and problems of perception are issues that every niche art faces and for which the makers need to develop concepts in order to keep a lively discourse and dialogue going with the audience. Further reaching, systemic production and reception problems, which become apparent in a province like Carinthia, plagued by competitive thinking, must be confronted.
For this reason, instead of a choreographic programme, the think tank around Andrea K. Schlehwein will organize a dance. talk with the title Talks about the Absent at this year's Kunst Nacht Stift Millstatt on July 28, 2023. The platform for dance and art under the label Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, which has been setting impulses in Carinthia for 15 years, will be available at ART SPACE stift millstatt for an exchange of ideas and proposals. We will not dance. Dance costs. Apart from money also a clear stance.
There will be dance nonetheless. The next new production of Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS is created as an international co-production with Ljubljana’s oldest dance theater, with a newly formed ensemble negating national borders. The dance production dis:place will be presented as part of the UKREP Festival of Dance Perspectives Slovenia on June 26 in Maribor and on June 28 in Ljubljana – and perhaps later in the year elsewhere in Carinthia, wherever dance is welcome.
