Im Rahmen einer A . I . R . residency@ART SPACE stift millstatt arbeitete Anamaria Bagarić an ihrem aktuellen Stück They Say | Pravijo.

They Say mäandert zwischen einer Tanzperformance und einem performativen Event, das die Rolle von Worten und Sprache in der heutigen Gesellschaft untersucht.

Ein paar Worte von Anamaria zu ihrer Erfahrung in der A . I . R . residency:

Drei Wochen lang habe ich im ART SPACE Millstatt an einem Stück gearbeitet, das sich mit Monique Wittigs Les Guérillères und meiner eigenen Beziehung zu Kontrolle, Lärm, Ärger und innerem Widerstand auseinandersetzt.

Die Bedingungen, in denen ich wohnen und arbeiten konnte, waren ruhig, fokussiert und meiner Arbeit förderlich. Alles um mich herum sagte Ja – zur Ruhe, zur Arbeit, zum Zweifel, zum Nichtwissen. Da es nichts gab, wogegen ich ankämpfen konnte, erforschte ich, wie viel des Widerstandes selbstgeneriert ist. Dieser Raum ermöglichte es mir, von einem Standpunkt des Vertrauens aus zu arbeiten, anstatt aus einer Abwehrhaltung.

Normalerweise dreht sich meine Arbeit um Reizüberflutung und Informationsüberfluss; hier gab mir die Abwesenheit all dieses Lärms Raum zum Nachdenken, zum Zuhören und zum aufrichtigen Gestalten. Diese Abwesenheit wurde zum Material, aus dem ich die Grundzüge von They Say entwickelte.

In the context of an A . I . R . residency@ART SPACE stift millstatt, Anamaria Bagarić worked on her current piece They Say | Pravijo.

They Say meanders between a dance performance and a performative event exploring the role of words and speech in today’s society.

A few words from Anamaria about her experience at the A . I . R . residency:

I spent three weeks at ART SPACE Millstatt developing a piece shaped by Monique Wittig’s Les Guérillères and my own relationship to control, noise, anger, and internal resistance.

The working and living conditions were calm, focused, and supportive. Everything around me said yes — to rest, to work, to doubt, to not knowing. With nothing to push against, I explored how much of the struggle is self-generated. That space allowed me to work from a place of trust rather than defense.

My work usually revolves around overstimulation and information overflow; here, the absence of all that noise gave me space to think, to listen, and to create honestly. That absence became material, and from it, I shaped the beginnings of They Say.
