Interview by CPA - Choreographic Platform Austria with Andrea K. Schlehwein + Eleonore Schäfer

Vor einigen Wochen – während der Proben zu ... while we are here ... – besuchte Maximilian Hohlweg von der Choreographic Platform Austria den ART SPACE stift millstatt, um mit den künstlerischen Leiterinnen Andrea K. Schlehwein und Eleonore Schäfer über die Geschichte, die laufenden Aktivitäten und die künstlerische Vision dieses besonderen Ortes für Tanz und zeitgenössische Kunst in Kärnten zu sprechen. Der daraus entstandene Videobeitrag wurde zunächst auf der Website der CPA veröffentlicht und ist jetzt auch hier auf unserem Blog zu sehen.

A few weeks ago – during the rehearsals for … while we are here … – Maximilian Hohlweg from the Choreographic Platform Austria visited the ART SPACE stift millstatt to speak with artistic directors Andrea K. Schlehwein and Eleonore Schäfer about the history, current projects, and artistic vision of this special venue for dance and contemporary art in Carinthia. The resulting video feature was first published on the CPA website and can now also be viewed here on our blog.

Die Beiträge der ➜ Onlineplattform der Choreographic Platform Austria dienen dazu, Institutionen, Initiativen und Künstler*innen aus Österreich zu porträtieren. Sie entstehen in enger Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Institutionen, Initiativen und Künstler*innen. Somit ermöglichen sie nicht nur einen Einblick in die verschiedenen Szenen, sondern tragen auch dazu bei, diese über die regionalen Grenzen hinaus sichtbar zu machen. Große Häuser und etablierte Künstler*innen stehen dabei ebenso im Fokus wie unabhängige Initiativen und Neuentdeckungen. Eine vollständige Abbildung der vielfältigen österreichischen Performanceszene ist dabei weder möglich, noch wird sie angestrebt. Die Onlineplattform versteht sich vielmehr als ein lebendiges Archiv, das kontinuierlich wächst und sich weiterentwickelt. Sie dient sowohl der nationalen wie auch internationalen Sichtbarkeit und Vernetzung des zeitgenössischen Tanzgeschehens in ganz Österreich.

The contributions of the ➜ online platform of the Choreographic Platform Austria aim to portray institutions, initiatives and artists from Austria. They are created in close collaboration with local institutions, initiatives, and artists. They provide insights into various scenes and contribute to making them visible beyond regional boundaries. Both major institutions and established artists, as well as independent initiatives and discoveries, are highlighted. The aim is not to provide a comprehensive representation of the diverse Austrian performance scene but rather to serve as a dynamic archive that continuously grows and evolves. It aims to enhance the national and international visibility of contemporary dance throughout Austria and provide opportunities for fruitful exchange.

KunstNacht Stift Millstatt 2025 – Ein Abend voller Kunst, Tanz und Dialog

Am 25. Juli 2025 öffnete die 6. KunstNacht Stift Millstatt ihre Türen und verwandelte die Galerie schäfer + schlehwein @ART SPACE stift millstatt in einen lebendigen Ort der Begegnung. Zahlreiche Kunst- und Tanzbegeisterte fanden den Weg in die inspirierende Atmosphäre, um gemeinsam einen Abend voller kreativer Energie zu erleben.

Die Veranstaltung bot nicht nur einen faszinierenden Einblick in aktuelle Kunstpositionen der großen Sommer-Gruppenausstellung time transcends time | Zeit verändert die Zeit, sondern schuf auch einen außergewöhnlichen Dialog zwischen den Disziplinen. Das internationale Tanzlabel Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, unter der Leitung der renommierten Choreographin Andrea K. Schlehwein, verwandelte die Galerieräume in eine Bühne stiller Bewegung mit einer dreistündigen zeitgenössischen Tanzperformance mit dem Titel all is process.

Für das Konzept und die Durchführung der Tanzperformance all is process zeichnet sich die aus Slowenien stammende zeitgenössische Tänzerin und Performance-Künstlerin Petra Peček verantwortlich. Mitwirkende des 3-stündigen Tanzstücks waren Jye-Hwei Lin, Unita Gay Galiluyo, Marlett Araújo und Petra Peček.

Kunst und Tanz verschmolzen zu einem intensiven Gesamterlebnis, das die Besucherinnen und Besucher in seinen Bann zog.

Die KunstNacht Stift Millstatt 2025 bewies eindrucksvoll, wie kraftvoll die Verbindung von Kunstformen sein kann. Zwischen inspirierenden Gesprächen, intensiven Eindrücken und subtilen Tanzbewegungen entstand ein Raum, in dem Zeit, Wahrnehmung und Ausdruck miteinander verschmolzen.

KunstNacht / Art Night Stift Millstatt 2025 – An Evening of Art, Dance, and Dialogue

On July 25, 2025, the 6th KunstNacht / Art Night Stift Millstatt opened its doors, transforming the schäfer + schlehwein Gallery @ART SPACE stift millstatt into a vibrant place of encounter. Numerous art and dance enthusiasts gathered in the inspiring atmosphere to share an evening full of creative energy.

The event not only offered a fascinating insight into current artistic positions from the major summer group exhibition time transcends time | Zeit verändert die Zeit, but also created an extraordinary dialogue between disciplines. The international dance label Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, led by renowned choreographer Andrea K. Schlehwein, turned the gallery rooms into a stage of silent movement with a three-hour contemporary dance performance titled all is process.

The concept and realization of all is process were developed by Slovenian contemporary dancer and performance artist Petra Peček. The three-hour piece featured performances by Jye-Hwei Lin, Unita Gay Galiluyo, Marlett Araújo, and Petra Peček.

Art and dance merged into an intense, holistic experience that captivated the audience.

KunstNacht / Art Night Stift Millstatt 2025 impressively demonstrated the powerful synergy of artistic forms. Between inspiring conversations, profound impressions, and subtle dance movements, a space emerged where time, perception, and expression intertwined.
