Rückblick 2022 | Looking back at 2022

Ein spannendes und intensives Jahr liegt hinter uns, mit zahlreichen Neufassungen und Neuproduktionen von Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, die 2022 nicht nur in der home base ART SPACE stift millstatt, sondern auch international auf verschiedenen Festivals präsentiert wurden. Die Stücke #robotic und #bones [aus der ACCUMULATION Serie] wurden in Neufassungen in Millstatt und Ljubljana aufgeführt, #shivering wurde in neuer Besetzung zum SoloDuo Festival Köln eingeladen, light things and dark things wurde für das Festival UKREP Ljubljana neu inszeniert. Der TANZfilm too many heroes wurde u.a. auf Festivals in Deutschland und Bulgarien präsentiert. Als Neuproduktionen wurden die Stücke lost landscapes und「inter relations」(betstehend aus archipelago 1-7) im ART SPACE stift millstatt uraufgeführt und in Rahmen des Projekts MONOLITH (initiiert von den Bildhauern Georg Planer und Peter Paszkiewicz) wurde im Steinbruch Modre im Kärntner Maltatal das site-spezifische Stück #stone erarbeitet und uraufgeführt – nebst einer zweiten Fassung im Pankratium - Haus des Staunens Gmünd. Das Symposion POSITIONEN 022 | HYBRID FORMATS brachte im April über 30 Künstler:innen aus 15 verschiedenen Ländern und zahlreichen Disziplinen für einen lebendigen Austausch im ART SPACE stift millstatt zusammen, mit Vertreter:innen aus dem zeitgenössischen Tanz, der bildenden Kunst, Lehre und Forschung, Architektur, Denkmalpflege, Design, Fotografie, Video-, Soundkunst uvm. Im Rahmen der A . I . R . residency war Suhwa Kim aus Südkorea im ART SPACE stift millstatt zu Gast, um sich mit den Themen Virtual Reality, Komposition und Chaos auseinanderzusetzen und in einer in : formal Präsentation ihre Arbeit dem Publikum näher zu bringen. Außerdem hatte sie im Rahmen der Residenz die Gelegenheit, ihr Stück Pixelance in Ljubljana aufzuführen. Nachfolgend ein Überblick über die Produktionen und Initiativen, die in diesem Jahr von Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, dem büro für tanz | theater | produktionen und seinen Kooperationspartnern realisiert wurden. We're looking back at an exciting and intensive year with numerous revised and new productions by Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS, which were presented in 2022 not only in the home base of ART SPACE stift millstatt, but also internationally at various festivals. New versions of the pieces #robotic and #bones [from the ACCUMULATION series] were performed in Millstatt and Ljubljana, #shivering was presented at the SoloDuo Festival Cologne in a new cast, light things and dark things was restaged for Festival UKREP Ljubljana The DANCE film too many heroes was shown at festivals in Germany and Bulgaria. The new productions lost landscapes and「inter relations」(consisting of archipelago 1-7) were premiered at ART SPACE stift millstatt and in the context of the project MONOLITH (initiated by the sculptors Georg Planer and Peter Paszkiewicz) the site-specific production #stone was developed and premiered in the Modre quarry in the Carinthian Malta Valley - along with a second version at Pankratium Haus des Staunens Gmünd. In April, the symposium POSITIONEN 022 | HYBRID FORMATS brought together more than 30 artists from 15 countries and numerous disciplines for a lively exchange at ART SPACE stift millstatt, with representatives from contemporary dance, fine arts, research and education, architecture, monument preservation, design, video and sound art, photography and much more. An A . I . R . residency brought Suhwa Kim from South Korea to ART SPACE stift millstatt, where she explored the themes of virtual reality, composition and chaos and shared her research with the audience in an in : formal presentation. As part of the residency, she also had the opportunity to perform her piece Pixelance in Ljubljana. Below you will find an overview of the productions and initiatives realized this year by Andrea K. 20 paving stones, symbol of rebellion and revolt, are integrated into the dynamic dance action. Confusion becomes visible, irritation and excessive demands, rage and helplessness give this demanding contemporary dance solo an unmistakable atmosphere.

3 too many heroes Andrea K. Schlehwein + NETZWERK AKS [REELS . 2021]

Zusätzlich zu dem 2021 entstandenen Tanzfilm too many heroes werden die 10 Reels als Einzelfilme gezeigt. Die Reels zeigen jeweils die subjektive Perspktive der handelnden Figur auf das Gesamtgschehen und sind als Roll und durchlaufendes Kontinuum im Film selbst zu sehen. Sie bilden einen wesentlichen Teil des Konzeptgedankens: obwohl sie alle dasselbe sehen ist es nie das gleiche Geschehen.

In addition to the 2021 dance film too many heroes, the 10 reels are shown as individual films. The reels each show the subjective perspective of the acting character on the overall event and can be seen as a roll and an ongoing continuum in the film itself. They form an essential part of the conceptual idea: although they all see the same thing, it is never the same event.

Am 12. November wurde als Gastpiel im ART SPACE stift millstatt das Stück Parquet Ball von Mateja Bučar (SLO) zum ersten Mal in Kärnten aufgeführt. Im Folgenden ein Text zum Stück von Vladimir Vidmar auf Slowenisch, mit Auszügen auf Englisch und Deutsch, begleitet von ein paar Fotos der Aufführung im ART SPACE.

On 12th of November the guest performance Parquet Ball by Mateja Bučar (SLO) was performed at ART SPACE stift millstatt – it's first showing in Carinthia. Here is a text about the piece by Vladimir Vidmar in Slovenian, with excerpt in English and German, accompanied by a few photos from the performance at the ART SPACE.

Parquet Ball / Nad parketom Parquet Ball je naslov plesnega dela Mateje Bučar. Bolj kot le siceršnje nakazovanje vsebine, bistva predstave, njene skrivne poante in implikacije je naslov tukaj vse, ali kot zapoveduje sloviti latinski pregovor, nomen est omen. Parquet Ball nas sicer v prvi vrsti asociira na elaborirane dvoranske plese, bale, vrhunce družabnega življenja plesa v meščanski družbi: mogoče si predstavljamo, kako po razkošnih dvoranah krožijo pari v večernih oblekah, kako se ob slokih silhuetah v frakih vrti 'muslin'... Vendar tej živopisni asociaciji nasproti stoji stroga dobesednost naslova Parquet Ball: krogla, narejena iz parketa, parketna žoga. V srcu predstave Mateje Bučar je dobesedna materializacija naslova, okrogel predmet, narejen iz parketa, ki se v svoji asociativni nemosti, avtoreferencialnosti in tavtološkosti, spiritus movens – ponovno dobesedno, ki se nekoliko uncannily, ob izmenjujoči se prisotnosti plesnega telesa, giblje po prostoru. Bolj kot dialog se med plesalko in žogo dogaja svojevrstna vzporednost, dogajanje brez dramatičnega loka intencionalne interakcije dveh akterk. Namesto tega v prostoru najdemo dve telesi, dve zasebni entiteti, ki izvajata ena od druge razmeroma neodvisno koreografijo ter ustvarjata dva momenta, ki ju opredeljuje izrazita materialnost gibanja in zvoka. Plesalka in krogla delujeta kot dve dinamični enoti, ki v materialni razliki med seboj uravnavata in merita svoje gibanje. Podobno, kot se zgodi pri naslovu, njuno gibanje navdaja podobna ambivalenca med bolj ali manj namernimi aluzijami na plesno tradicijo in izrazito reduktivnostjo koreografskih momentov, ki so zvedeni na anatomsko kvaliteto giba, njegovo funkcionalnost in fizičnost. Ta dvojnost preveva celotno dogajanje predstave: kljub pogostim reminiscencam na poteze klasičnega baleta, presenetljivo opaznejšim v točkah, ki jih izvaja žoga, se pa vendarle ples dogaja kot študija lastne elementarnosti. Tako tudi baletni čevlji ene izmed plesalk služijo za ojačevanje materialnih aspektov giba, kot je trk enega topega predmeta ob drugega in surov, elementaren zvok, ki to spremlja. Refleksijo radikalne materialnosti predstava izrecno zgosti v sekvencah, v katerih se v plesu znajdeta dve parketni žogi: po tem trenutku ni več dvoma, vse nastopajoče so le material, ki točkovno zadeva drug material in zarisuje določeno arhe-shemo teles plesnega gibanja. Seciranje gibov v njihovi elementarnosti, členjenje plesnega giba na njegove anatomske praelemente v ostrem odklonu od asociativne linije dvoranskega plesa na parketu ali pa baleta orisuje določeno problematiko funkcionalnosti telesa in načinov, kako jo ples kultivira. Parquet Ball je v svoji oddaljenosti od parquet ball-a zgodba o plesu, ples o plesu kot fenomenologiji giba in prostora. Pri tem številni momenti sklicevanja na modernizem niso naključni: predstava je del obeleževanja stote obletnice izida prve številke revija aska, pelje nas torej v dvajseta leta 20. stoletja, čas Bauhausa in drugih modernih prelomnic, ki v različnih momentih predstave še kako najdejo svoj poklon. Ne nazadnje, predstavo v gibanje spravi parketna žoga, vase zaprti samoreferencialen objekt, ki istočasno povzema tako premišljevanje (plesnega, koreografskega) medija samega (tako ključno za siceršnjo prakso Bučarjeve) kot materializacijo samega prostora, prostor sam pa kot material umetniškega ustvarjanja. In kot sicer pri delu Mateje Bučar niti tukaj ne gre enostavno za sklep o tem, da je medij sporočilo: prej bi lahko njeno materialno shemo plesa v Parquet Ball razumeli kot iskanje tiste najbolj obče pragovorice telesa, ki je temelj univerzalnosti plesa, a hkrati vedno že povod in motivacija za njegove mnogotere kode. Excerpts in English: "Perhaps we can imagine the couples in evening dresses elegantly circling across luxurious parquet floor of a dance hall, but, that vivid association is contrasted by the strict literality of the title, Parquet Ball and in its remoteness from a parquet ball, is a story about dance; a dance about dance as the phenomenology of movement and space. Here, the numerous moments of reference to modernism are no coincidence. The performance is set in motion by a parquet ball, a self-referential object which is closed in on itself, and which simultaneously summarizes not only the thinking (in terms of dance, choreography) and the media itself but also a materialization of the space itself; the space as a medium of artistic creation. And here we also cannot simply conclude that the medium is the message: we might sooner understand the material scheme of dance in Parquet Ball as a search for that most common primordial language of the body, which is the foundation of the universality of dance, and also always the cause and motivation for its manifold codes." Auszüge auf Deutsch: „Man kann sich die Paare in Abendkleidern vorstellen, wie sie elegant über das edle Parkett eines Tanzsaals kreisen, doch diese bildhafte Assoziation steht im Gegensatz zur strengen Buchstäblichkeit des Titels Parquet Ball und ist – in seiner Abgrenzung zu einem Parkettball – eine Geschichte über den Tanz: ein Tanz über Tanz als Phänomenologie von Bewegung und Raum. Die zahlreichen Verweise auf die Moderne sind dabei kein Zufall. Die Aufführung wird von einem Ball aus Parkett in Bewegung gesetzt, einem selbstreferentiellen, in sich geschlossenen Objekt, das gleichzeitig nicht nur das (tänzerische, choreographische) Denken sowie das Medium selbst in sich zusammenfasst, sondern auch eine Materialisierung des Raumes: der Raum als Medium künstlerischen Schaffens. Dabei können wir nicht einfach schlussfolgern, das Medium sei die Botschaft: vielmehr sollten wir das materielle Konzept des Tanzes in Parquet Ball als eine Suche nach jener höchst allgemeinen Ursprache des Körpers verstehen, die das Fundament der Universalität des Tanzes ist und auch immer die Ursache und Motivation für seine vielfältigen Codes.“ Übersetzung aus dem Englischen: Roman Zotter
