Organisiert vom Netzwerk AKS / Platform for Contemporary Dance + Art, wird im November in Kärnten getanzt. Motor des Festivals „Tanz im November“ ist die Choreografin und Regisseurin Andrea Schlehwein, die mit ihrem Team ein dichtes Programm auf die Beine gestellt hat: Zeitgenössischer Tanz, Filmvorführungen, Tanz für Kinder, Tanz mit Kindern, Workshops, Trainingsstunden für Profis, Gesprächsrunden und Diskussionen finden sowohl im Stift Millstatt als auch in Klagenfurt statt.

Drei Wochen lang bietet das Netzwerk AKS (Andrea K. Schlehwein) unterschiedliche Möglichkeiten, sich aktiv (tanzend und diskutierend) oder passiv (schauend, hörend, mitdenkend) mit dem zeitgenössischen Tanz auseinanderzusetzen. Das Team legt besonderen Wert auf die aktiven Teile des Festivals, damit „gemeinsam neue Perspektiven entwickelt werden können.“

Eröffnet wird in der Theater Halle 11 von Klagenfurt mit der Premiere von „things we lost in the fire“, einer Choreografie von Andrea Schlehwein für sechs bis acht Tänzer_innen. Tanz pur, ohne Thema oder Botschaft, einfach Bewegung zur Musik im Raum. Die Performance, „Time Code 9733“, eine Verknüpfung von Tanz, Film und Installation, hat bereits im Mai Premiere gefeiert und ist nun in Millstatt wieder zu sehen. Schlehweins Choreografie soll, „die sechs Tänzer in einem Zusammenhang aus Räumen, Bewegungen, Musik, Geräuschen und Medienbildern setzen.“ Auch die Zuschauerinnen dürfen sich bewegen: Die Vorstellung findet in zwei unterschiedlich gestalteten Räumen statt, der eine dunkel und mystisch, der andere hell und luftig. Die Wahl des Aufenthaltsraums muss jede / jeder selbst treffen. „ALICE. Facing the future expecting death dust and hope.“, ist ein Solo für Maria Mavridou von Schlehwein, mit Filmausschnitten und üppigem Sound. Der Trailer gibt einen ersten Eindruck. Die Premiere ist im Stift Millstatt zu erleben.

„Alles im Eimer“ ist eine Tanz- und Musikperformance für ein Publikum ab zwei Jahren von Barbara Fuchs. Es tanzen Oddile Foehl und Emily Welther. In zwei Kübeln sind sämtliche Gefühle enthalten, die angenehmen und die unangenehmen, die an japanische Musik erinnernde Klanginstallation holt die Kinder aus dem Alltag. Weniger naiv und kindlich wird es bei den „Positionen 015“ zugehen. Der zeitgenössische Tanz in Kärnten steht im Mittelpunkt der Statements und Diskussionen. Gibt es diesen überhaupt. Ist er krank oder gesund, geschätzt oder negiert? Was ist zu ändern?

Carinthian artists notably absent from local festival

Visitors eyes were opened by a peek into the Spectrum Festival program and their opening ceremony in front of Villach’s city hall.  Not one single performance is from Carinthia, yet very high quality works are coming from outside the province. Due to the emigration of artists and artistic circumvention within this amateur and domestic scene where alpha-male behavior prevails, all that remains is astonishment over imports like „Betontanc & Umka“ (Laibach/Riga, photo), which was a brilliant substitute for the originally planned but prohibited-by-lack-of-funding Carinthian opening production, love me hate me kiss me bite me by Andrea K. Schlehwein with Netzwerk AKS. More information available at www.festivalspectrum.com.

Review: time code 9733 / Andrea Hein

AKS received well-deserved applause upon the conclusion of her latest and boldest choreographic experiment to date. time code 9733, presented at ART SPACE in Stift Millstatt, integrates audience and fantastic dance technique, and examines a universe built upon reality and vision. The work pulled viewers into the performance by allowing them to move freely within a precisely calculated, changeable spacial installation with live-designed film projections – and quite successfully! Excitement and curiosity drew viewers from a dark chamber, disjointed by grand cinematic images depicting both ideal and broken worlds of memory and fantasy, into a room of light.

There, a group of diverse dancers, which even included an 8-year-old boy (!), built upon that which had been rescued from the darkness in a far-east-inspired “ritual” with symbolic use of feathers, a chalice and a crown. A worthwhile experience!
