Beim Festival
HIER = JETZT
habe ich ein Solo über die niederländisch-jüdische Tänzerin Roosje Glaser
kreiert, die 6 Konzentrationslager mit ungebrochenem Geist überlebte. Ich
habe das Solo in einer Galerie unter dem leuchtenden Schriftzug
NIE WIEDER IST JETZT
getanzt.
Mit rechtsextremen Strömungen on the rise wo immer man hinschaut, fand
ich es angebracht, mein Solo mit den Worten
JETZT IST JETZT
zu beenden.
Dabei muss ich immer an meinen mexikanischen Ex-Freund denken, der mir
die verschiedenen Abstufungen von
JETZT / AHORA
im mexikanischen Sprachgebrauch erklärt hat:
Ahora - irgendwann, möglicherweise dieses Jahr
ahorita - wahrscheinlich bald, also diese Woche oder so
ahoritita - fast gleich, könnte tatsächlich eintreten
und, den Aufschrei seiner Eltern, wenn er auf eine Aufforderung mit
ahorita antwortete:
AHORITA ES YA!
JETZT IST SCHON [JETZT]
WE / WIR
Wann werden
WIR
begreifen, das es längst high noon ist, dass

Konsequenzen ziehen, handeln müssen? Nur wenn

Vor kurzem saß ich in einem Café. Ein Obdachloser sprach mich an, er
verkaufe eine Zeitschrift von einer Künstlervereinigung, um seinen
Lebensunterhalt zu bestreiten. Sie heißt:
Un autre Monde / Another World - journal solidaire et culturel
marseillais
Eine andere Welt - solidarische und kulturelle Marseiller
Zeitschrift
Ich kaufte drei ‘Andere Welten’. Wir kamen ins Gespräch und ich erzählte
ihm, dass ich meinen Lebensunterhalt mit Tanzen bestreite und dadurch viel
reise. Daraufhin kramte er aus seiner Tasche eine Postkarte hervor, die er
mir mit ausladender Geste und den Worten überreichte (stolz):
Hier, für Dich, ein Geschenk: Deine Schritte im Himmel!
Auf Spanish sagt man
nadie me quita lo baila’o
niemand kann mir nehmen, was ich schon getanzt habe
niemand kann mir die Schritte nehmen, die ich schon getanzt habe
Tanzen ist meine Art in-der-Welt-zu-sein

For the festival
HERE = NOW
I created a solo about the Dutch-Jewish dancer Roosje Glaser, who
survived 6 concentration camps with an unbroken spirit. I danced this solo
in a gallery beneath illuminated letters reading
NEVER AGAIN IS NOW
With right-wing tendencies on the rise around the globe, I felt it was
appropriate to end my solo with the words
NOW IS NOW
Which makes me think of my Mexican ex-boyfriend who explained to me the
different nuances of
NOW
as used in Mexican Spanish:
Ahora - sometime, possibly this year
ahorita - probably soon, like this week or so
ahoritita - almost immediately, could actually happen
and his parents' outcry, when he responded to a request with
ahorita:
AHORITA ES YA!
NOW IS ALREADY [NOW]

When will
WE
realize that the clock is ticking, that
WE
have to draw consequences and take action? The thing is, if
WE
are always the others, it is so easy for an alienated

to get consumed in oblivion, staring at the next best screen.

A short while ago I was sitting in a café. A homeless person came up to
me and told me he was selling a magazine from an artitsts' association to
make a living. It's called:
Un autre Monde - journal solidaire et culturel marseillais
Another World - Solidarity and Culture Journal of Marseille
I bought three 'Other Worlds'. We started talking and I told him that I
make my living from dancing and therefore travel a lot. He dug out a
postcard from his bag and handed it to me with a sweeping gesture, saying
(proudly)
Here, for you, a present: Your steps in the sky!
In Spanish they say

Hé creado un solo sobre la bailarina judeo-holandesa Roosje Glaser,
sobreviviente de 6 campos de concentración y con un espíritu
inquebrantable. Bailé este mismo solo debajo de una placa luminosa que
decía
NUNCA MÁS ES AHORA
Con la emergencia de tendencias fachistas por donde un@ mire, me pareció
oportuno terminar mi solo con las palabras
AHORA ES AHORA
Mi ex-novio mexicano me solía explicar las diferentes matices de la
palabra
AHORA
en el habla mexicano:
Ahora - en algún momento, tal vez este año
ahorita - probablemente pronto, o sea podría hasta pasar esta semana
ahoritita - casi inminente, podría realmente ocurrir
Y, la replica recurrente de sus padres si su respuesta a una solicitud
cualquiera fuera ‘ahorita [lo hago]’:

Hace poco estaba sentada en un café. Un vagabundo se me acerca y me
cuenta que vende una revista de una asociación de artistas para ganarse la
vida. Se llama:
Un autre Monde/Another World - journal solidaire et culturel
marseillais
Otro Mundo - revista solidaria y cultural marsellesa
Le compro tres «Otros Mundos». Conversamos un poco y le digo que yo me
gano la vida bailando y que esto me lleva a viajar mucho. Entonces saca
una postal de su bolsillo y me la entrega con un gesto amplio y las
palabras (orgulloso):
Tomá, un regalo para vos: ¡tus pasos en el cielo!
